Menurut Dr. Syeikh Yusuf Qaradhawi seorang cendekiawan Islam terbilang dari Mesir, menderma darah merupakan sebesar-besar jalan menghampirkan diri kepada Allah dan semulia-mulia sedekah, kerana ianya sama seperti menyelamatkan nyawa manusia lain tanpa mengira batasan agama (Muslim ataupun tidak). Ia adalah satu tindakan yang mana kebaikannya telah diterangkan dengan sejelas-jelasnya di dalam al-Quran seperti firman Allah yang bermaksud; “ Sesungguhnya sesiapa yang membunuh maka seolah-olah dia telah membunuh manusia seluruhnya, dan sesiapa yang menghidupkan seolah-olah dia menghidupkan manusia seluruhnya.” (Al-Maidah : ayat 32).
